Indhran Pillay is an Chartered Electrical Engineer with a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, having over 25 years post graduate design and project management experience in overhead power lines with voltages up to 765 kV and structures up to 145 m high. He has worked on assignments in South Africa, Rwanda, Mozambique, Botswana, Philippines and Australia. Indhran has received an award for innovation from ESKOM in recognition for his contribution to the development of 400 kV guyed lattice structures for ESKOM. He also received formal recognition from ElectraNet for his involvement in the restoration of supply in the 2016 blackout in South Australia. He is trained in PLS-CADD, ProSpot, CDEGS and PSCAD software tools. His key experience is in the design management of power lines, earthing design and investigations, insulation selection and coordination, conductor selection and optimisation, electric & magnetic field studies, AC interference and coupling, structure spotting and optimisation, and other aspects involved in transmission network engineering. He has also written standards, procedures and provided training in PLS-CADD and insulation co-ordination for utilities, prepared tender documentation, evaluated technical proposals, visited factories for acceptance test, managed projects as a client, contractor and consultant. Indhran has worked as an Engineer and Project Manager on overhead power lines for Eskom, as a Project Engineer for Consolidated Power Project, a Principal Engineer for ElectraNet and PSC Consulting, and with Parsons Brinckerhoff as a Chief Engineer. Indhran is a corresponding member on CIGRE B2 WG56 (Ground Potential Rise at OH AC Transmission Line Design). He is a member of Engineers Australia.
