Head - Digital Incubation Center
MOTC's Digital Incubation Center (DIC) was created to boost ICT innovation in Qatar, particularly among young people at the critical early stages of starting or growing a technology-related business. The Center’s objectives are to:* Help young entrepreneurs transform innovative ideas into viable businesses.* Provide incubation programs that nurture and help grow new businesses by offering expertise, Mentoring, professional guidance, and services including access to space, business planning, education and training, Accounting and legal advice, among others, throughout the phases of the start-up development. During the period of my engagement the center incubated a total of 45 teams which consisted of, 22 startup companies and 23 idea stage teams. The teams were from technology areas such as smart city solutions and applications; cloud computing; IoT; big data and analytics; cyber security; mobility and wearable solutions and e-commerce.My role within the incubation center included :• Develop and Manage an incubation strategy to support innovative entrepreneurs • Build and maintain strong relationships with all concerned stakeholders; academia, business and R&D institutes, investment funds/groups. • Promote the DIC to individuals , groups and organizations within and outside Qatar that would lead to provide incubation support for Qatari start-ups and entrepreneurs • Coordinate all efforts with Evaluation Committees and Advisory Board• Manage the processes for selecting Incubatees and Ideas Space participants• Oversee the grant funding process and monitor the use of funds• Promotions to create awareness for innovation & entrepreneurship • Stimulate entrepreneurship through targeted campaigns, Hackathons and business plan competitions.
