At Semantia there are a number of mantras that our team are guided by in our attitudes to work, life and service to others. My favourite mantra is 'Fail Forward Fast' (attributed to Tom Peters). I think the reason it resonates for me, is that it has a sense of momentum about it and there's a subtle ambiguity in the underlying assumptions which are fun. I'll explain my perspective... The idea of failure for me is that it is a temporary state that exists purely because outcome does not match with prior expectation. That means that as a temporary state, something must be done: action is required. So when combined and put into context in the mantra, I get a lovely instruction - If your expectation Fails to be met, do something that takes you Forward towards where you want to be and avoid delays so you make it happen Fast. When building something that has never existed before, it can be challenging to create something that is efficient, useful, easy to use and has design appeal. My role within Semantia is to assist clients and the development team in the creation of custom software (whether that's an online business platform/metaverse, web app for mobile or complex business solution) that meets and exceeds all expectations.
