• Conceptualised the review and complete re-write of BP Shipping’s consolidated HSSE & Quality Management system called the Fleet Operating Management System (OMS) to make it simple, fit for purpose and easy to implement. • Successfully managed the re-write of the Fleet OMS with a team of 5 technical writers, proof reader, administrators and subject matter experts from BP Shipping Fleet Management and Standards teams.• Achievements through successful completion of the Fleet OMS Re-write project:1. A simplified Fleet Operating Management System (OMS) structure where the tiers of documentation, requirements and guidance are segregated. 2. All procedures in the Fleet OMS have the same layout, with requirements and recommendations clearly identified within them.3. All procedures are written in Plain English which will be easily understood by crew whose first language is not English.

• Responsible and accountable for auditing of BP Shipping fleet, shore offices and shipyards to verify compliance with BP Shipping and industry standards like ISM Code, ISPS Code, ISO 14001 and ISO 9001.• Work with BP Shipping Fleet Health & Safety team to develop and continuously improve Safety and Quality Management system for BP Shipping fleet.

• Built a fit-for-purpose compliance management system for BP Shipping to meet HSSE (Health, Safety, Security & Environmental) legal requirements.• Monitored the compliance management system by working closely with business delivery teams and providing legal compliance assurance to BP Group • Gradually built a proactive culture of compliance at BP Shipping by monitoring emerging legal requirements, engaging responsible parties on its implementation and verifying compliance.• Ensured BP Shipping meets all group Safety & operational requirements by carrying out self audits and ensuring timely close out of BP Group Safety & Operation audit findings.

• Carried out statutory plan approvals for Lloyd’s Register class ships worldwide.• Advised Lloyd’s Register clients and regional offices worldwide on Marpol 73/78 requirements and their applicability on Lloyd’s Register class ships.• Identified problems in complying with amended IMO resolution/Marpol Annex II and arrived at pragmatic solutions to deal with the non compliance issues. • Advised clients like Maersk and Damen shipyard on OSV new-build design so that it can comply with amended IMO requirements to carry all types of NLS (Drilling Brines & Muds) • Authorized on behalf of Lloyd’s Register to approve Procedures & Arrangements manual and prepare list of chemical products allowed to be carried as per Marpol 73/78 Annex II for Chemical Carriers, Offshore Support Vessels and Gas Ships.• Worked with Lloyd’s Register technical team formalizing Offshore Support Vessel Class survey rules.

• Responsibility for safety and security management of company vessels.• Implemented safety management system in Company’s shore office to obtain its first compliance (DOC for ISM Code) certificate from American Bureau of Shipping.• Implemented safety and security management system on Company ships and had them certified by American Bureau of Shipping within 8 months.

• Implemented safety management system on ships and shore office to meet ISM Code compliance deadline of 01 July ’02 for Other Cargo vessels.• Prepared annual budgets for the vessels towards maintenance, surveys, planned lay-ups, dry-docking repairs and Safety Management System.• Successfully executed major revamping of three Offshore Support Vessels at Mumbai Port Trust dry-docks / repair berths during the year 2002-03..
