Worked with Prof. John C. Gore and Prof. James M. Joers on developing MRS and MRSI techniques on 3T and 7T Philips human scanners for in vivo study of the major neurometabolites in human brain to understand the effects of metabolites on different psychiatric conditions.

1. Characterized the relaxation properties at low and high fields of novel dendron-functionalized superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (SPIONs) as MRI contrast agents. 2. Performed in-vitro cellular uptake studies of such SPIONs, along with the effects of numerous tunable parameters (e.g., core size, organic coating, pH, etc.) on the resulting aqueous NMR relaxation characteristics. 3. Developed a theoretical model to understand the effect of nanoscale transient clustering among the particles on the aqueous NMR relaxation properties.4. Constructed and optimized an optical pumping system for producing hyperpolarized xenon to obtain 10000-fold 129Xe NMR signal enhancement. 5. Characterized Rb energy-pooling processes under conditions relevant to noble gas optical pumping via optical emission using UV-Vis. and near-IR spectrometers.

1. Developed a model to assign the uncertainties of rock porosity measurements( of oil-wells) obtained from Laplace Inversion of NMR-logs.

1. Characterized the effects of asphaltenes on NMR relaxivities of different crude oils (T1-T2 and diffusion-T2 2D-NMR maps) using various fringe-field and low-field NMR spectrometers. 2. Studied the possibilities of using NMR relaxivities to detect “reservoir compartmentalization” in oil wells.
