As Community Programs Manager I was responsible for developing, coordinating and evaluating educational programs with particular focus on programs related to the museum’s California theme and on special exhibitions including programs for families and specific communities. Programs included a variety of media – films, lectures, dance and music performances, as well as hands-on activities. Partnered with community organizations to better serve the needs of the community, and to develop museum audiences. Managed budgets; coordinate volunteers and technical staff for programs.I was responsible for administrating the Museum’s community advisory councils (Latino, African-American and Asian Pacific), which advise the Museum on exhibits and programs related to the its mission and goals, and institutional initiatives. Also worked cross-departmentally to address needs of visitors and Museum staff.

As School Services Supervisor, I managed development and production of online lessons, and interactive activities for kqed.org web site, and accompanying workshops for K-12 teachers. I created Bay Area Mosaic, a dynamic, innovative multi-cultural program, which included on-line lesson, workshops and resources for teachers. As part of Bay Area Mosaic I developed a film festival series for ChevronTexaco employees in collaboration with the Office of Diversity, serving audiences of over 150 employees at each event. Program received acclaim and positive employee feedback. I built strong relationships with educational institutions and community agencies around the Bay Area, and coordinated community events in several neighborhoods in San Francisco and the City of Richmond.

I conducted trainings for staff and students in elementary, middle and high schools on issues of prejudice, oppression, conflict resolution, cultural awareness and sexual harassment. I also facilitated a process where students became more empowered in their school environment through peer education, activism and skill-development. I conducted with students to plan anti-bias campaigns on campuses.I worked with victims of hate-motivated violence, and was a trainer for, and liaison to community agencies in assisting victims of hate violence.

Coordinated multi-cultural educational programming on campus; Provided on-going advisory support for ethnic clubs’ day-to-day club operations and activities, and individual students’ needs; Curated Center’s art gallery; Managed the Center’s budget, supervised student staff, provided diversity training workshops, produced performing arts events.
