The main objective of this project is to use the water resources of Uma Oya and Mahatotilla Oya to solve the acute shortage of water being experienced in the Kirindi Oya basin in the Wellassa region apart from using for the generation of hydropower implemented under the UOMDP. The Irrigation Department had estimated that the total cost to be incurred was Rs 17,914 Rs million, concerning the UODDP.
