Analysis and design for the rehabilitation of 51 soil-arch bridges of Southern Expressway in south-west of Sri LankaDealt with the issue of support structure failures as a result of corrosion of the imported corrugated steel arches from Brazilo Worked with the Road Development Authority to investigate and rectify the situationo Conducted site visits, non-destructive testing & prepared condition reports for each structureo Evaluated two solution proposals (mine and my professors) using SAP-2000 o Successfully proposed a reinforced concrete arch as a strengthening mechanism which is currently being implemented Investigated the cracked bridge piers of the Southern Expressway in south-west of Sri Lankao Confirmed the suspicion that the issue was due to the Ettringite formationo Conducted extensive concrete core sample testing and provided recommendations on appropriate courses of action Analysis and design for the rehabilitation project of heritage listed four storey masonry building in the Colombo dockyardo Surveyed the structure and prepared a condition report for the client – Sri Lankan Customso Proposed and presented to the client 2 different solutions based on costs and constructability respecting the Dutch heritage listed building

Secured this 6 month traineeship as part of my Civil Engineering Bachelors qualification in Sri Lanka’s second largest construction company. Within the Building and Construction Department, I was allocated to the PreCast Concrete Division. I was working on Dikkovita fishery harbour Development, north of Colombo, Sri Lanka and various building projects.Designed and supervised the construction of pre-cast reinforced concrete elements for the Harbour Shoring Project.o Designed pre-cast shoring elements for Dikkovita Fisheries Harbour project, North of Colombo (Constructed by BAM international, Netherland)o Worked with octagonal pre-cast blocks (Xblocks) (at the time a first in Sri Lanka) Prepared the structural design including manual calculations for the facade systems for the second tallest residential building in Sri Lanka (at that time).o Identified required reinforcement arrangements and necessary lifting mechanisms o Dealt with construction irregularities including dimensional and misalignmentso Utilised British Standards BS8110 in the designo Used SAP-2000 in the analysis of the stability of pre-cast panels Supervised the installation of pre-cast concrete cladding panels from level 2 to 7 of a 31 storey residential buildingo Worked with external contractors, dealt with transportation and lifting issues in order to deliver to the timelines Stayed an extra month to complete the project then returned to full time studies.
