Our surgical population was not limited to orthopedics, we provided high quality care to patients undergoing various of surgical operations such as, gynecological postoperative patients, general surgery post-operative patients, and pediatric post-operative patients.  Collaborated and managed plan of care between surgeons, physical/occupational therapy, case management, social work, and other nursing staff to ensure positive health care outcomes.  In addition to teaching patients, I also precepted student RNs.  As Charge Nurse, responsibilities included patient assignments, balancing discharged patients and admitting new patients. I lead our team as a resource to all nurses on the unit, aided in service recovery, cared for a patient load, and reported the staffing needs of the unit. Served as a representative on nursing committees for SOP and collaborate with management at monthly unit practice council meetings.
