As a ULN scholar I have been given the opportunity to mentor 20 of my own scholars. This upcoming year all of my mentees will be STEM majors giving me the opportunity to educate about the struggles of being a low-income, first generation, minority; It is then my pleasure to introduce them to the school and their major and be the resource that they need to overcome these obstacles.

Learned how to use MicroStation for the application of vertical and horizontal alignment for a highway project. Developed and honed my analytical and problem solving skills for analysis of alternatives for a given problem.

Developed key skills in construction management by holding two roles in both the Austin and San Antonio region: Special Performance Operations engineer and QA/QC engineer. Over a total of 9 projects in all areas of the construction timeline, I put to practice take-off skills by utilizing the necessary software. Additionally, I learned how to put together invoices, organize and code materials and tools for a regional warehouse. Lastly, by understanding the meticulous and detailed work needed for the shell of a building I managed subcontractors throughout the exterior work process.

Working in the newly developed hotel requires me to be a diligent, efficient and effective worker. As new problems occur my conversational and hospitality skills help me maintain satisfied guests through out my shift. As the night audit I must run the end of the day reports which require me to understand the financial and business aspects of the hotel. Additionally, throughout the night I hold conversations with guests to keep them occupied and while maintaining a clean and safe facility.

Under this position I had the opportunity to immerse myself into an construction site for a hotel located downtown Austin. This learning experience helped me understand the work efforts and criteria necessary to be a Project Management Engineer. As a construction laborer, my jobs included but not limited to:- Transporting resources into the building- Assisting with projects such as sheet rocking and installment of equipment- Loading and unloading furniture and other items in and out of the building- Maintaining and understanding the necessary duties to keep a safe and clean environment

Worked positions such as cook, server and bartender. I created the schedule for the weekend workers and controlled and commanded the kitchen. As manager I had to efficiently take orders in and run them out in an organized and timely manner in a way that satisfied the guest. By practicing safe and practical food handling services my team maintained a healthy and safe food environment.
