I teach 5th grade math and science to 48 amazing students. I'm responsible for delivering quality instruction that ensures my students meet and exceed all the requirements of their grade level. I provide authentic assessment with timely and specific feedback so that my students understand where they are instructionally and how they can improve. My classroom is dynamic and ever changing to meet the needs of the students. By incorporating visual arts and music into the projects that I launch in my classroom, I give my students more enveloping educational experiences. I infuse the instructional day with technology, hands-on opportunities, project-based learning and goals designed to take the young learners further than they can imagine.

I have served as a fifth grade and second grade teacher at Brentwood Elementary. My duties are to successfully create and maintain a flexible elementary grade program and a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth; to establish effective rapport with students; to motivate students to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for upper elementary grade education in accordance with each student’s ability; to establish good relationships with parents and other staff members. Use PowerSchool HomeBase and PowerSchool Gradebook daily to account for students and to record assessment. I created and launched The Green STEM initiative as a way to connect a curricula topics to a hands-on engineering project using recycled or reclaimed materials. I served as the Technology Facilitator for Brentwood Elementary during the 2012-2013 school year. My duties were to coach and instruct the staff on current technologies and nurture their understanding of how to better use software, apps, computers, and iOS devices. I taught several professional development sessions throughout the year on topics ranging from creating websites to the advanced features of SMART Notebook. I spearheaded the launch of a student-sourced televised daily news program at Brentwood and helped produced the show each morning during the 2012-2013 school year.

Responsible for the accurate and prompt diagnosis and repair of all computer hardware, software, network, and peripheral issues. Work fluently within multiple Windows(95,XP,7) and network platforms. Serve and support NCDOT end users via various levels of help desk assistance ranging from telephone support to on-site service. Setup/install new computer systems and provide orientation regarding new equipment for ROW personnel. Install software applications directly, netcasting, or via duplication utilities such as Ghost. Administer Telex system within the ROW Branch. Provide support to local and statewide offices via phone, remote attachment and/or office visits. Spearhead the NCDOT ROW records archival initiative. Design and implement protocols for transforming paper documents of significance (deeds, contracts) to searchable electronic images. Develop procedures for the safe handling of documents in various degrees of condition. Convert the multi-volume ROW manual from paper to electronic format. Engineer on-line solutions for once paper only forms. Assist with development of early versions of the NCDOT ROW website and a proprietary Oracle database. Deliver training for various software and hardware technology to ROW personnel. Develop and maintain working relationships with all ROW personnel.
