Computing and the digital world has been my hobby and passion since I was a kid. While others wanted bikes or surfboards - I wanted a PC and to get online. Nothing has changed since then.I consider myself a generalist inside the Technology sphere. I started my career as a project manager for an ISP called Octa4 – handling all their website design work with our primary client being Centrebet. In my spare time I established the Octa4 online gaming service, which I then took over when the business was sold. I then went freelance, and established the online presence of Multibet and then took over the responsibility of Centreracing. When Tatts Group bought Centreracing in 2009, I went from being their digital strategy manager, to heading up a team of 3 that grew to over 80 and encompassed the entirety of Tatt's online presence. With that journey under my belt I wanted to get back to where my passion started, working in the cutting edge of this space. My role establishing the innovation team at Tatt's was the perfect start - with the ability to not only foster and help germinate new ideas, but to act as product owner to some truly innovative new products. This naturally took me to the blockchain space, where I headed up Ops for the team at the start-up Horizon State, where we leveraged blockchain technology to redesign the way that opinion is solicited, votes are cast, and collaborative decisions are made. We created a digital ballot box which cannot be hacked and is many multiples cheaper to run than traditional democratic processes within enterprise and government.I then moved into the cutting edge space of DeFi, GameFi and DAO's, where my previous experience is helping shape the next generation of tech company. My current role is helping steer the technology needs of Presper Labs with our bespoke application development. To get a full picture of my career journey so far, please visit https://bit.ly/3bTmsaQ

Head Of InnovationTatts Group Jul 2015 - Oct 2016Docklands, Victoria, AuA newly formed position, my role is to ensure that Tatts Group encourages innovation and an open innovation mechanism is in place to ensure everyone in the company participates. In conjunction with the establishment of this, my team headed up a large research piece into the eSports scene potential in Australia, and the creation from scratch of a new Virtual Reality wagering app to showcase the new medium's potential. -
Chief Online OfficerTatts Group May 2013 - Jul 2015Docklands, Victoria, AuWith a new CEO (Robbie Cooke) came a comprehensive restructure of the business and a direction evaluation. My position as heading the digital team stayed the same, but my title changed to Chief Online Officer. One of the first major tasks undertaking was that of investigating the brand confusion throughout the business, with the recommendation made of rebranding both the wagering and lotteries arms and moving to independent, bespoke websites - starting with wagering.During this time, growth continued in the combined online entity tatts.com, with our turnover hitting $1bn - a first for a website/app of its kind. The team grew to more than 70 strong and the call was made to consolidate the digital marketing staff into a new group wide marketing team. The developers were then folded back into the greater technology team ensuring we had full stack development and communication capabilities. My role was made redundant, but I was asked to stick around for a contract role helping setup a new open innovation push for the group, heading up a newly formed innovation team. -
CeoTatts Group May 2011 - May 2013Docklands, Victoria, AuWith the online division formed, Mike Miller (then head of Tatts Online) left the company and I assumed the role of heading up Tatts Online.Having started with the UniTAB website, then moved onto the various Lotteries websites and initiated work on a bespoke wagering app.One of the major issues was the fragmented nature of staffing, with key digital staff working in isolated pockets throughout the business in both Brisbane and Melbourne. A decision was made to consolidate all digital staff in Brisbane.A call from then CEO of Tatts Group, Dick McIlwain, to unite all the business units digital presence under one common wallet entity was then made, and Tatts.com was born - combining both the wagering and lotteries arm under one website and app. This was a first for the industry, allowing lotteries users to use their account to purchase wagering tickets and vice versa. The team grew to 45 people, with web and mobile developers, testers, BA's, project and product managers plus a full strength digital marketing team running all of Tatt's digital marketing initiatives. -
Strategy ManagerTatts Group Feb 2009 - May 2011Docklands, Victoria, AuMy initial role was to help establish a fixed price operation at UniTAB, but that quickly changed as we discovered the need for a centralised and dedicated online team that could benefit not only UniTAB but Tatts as a whole.I made a recommendation to the board that a new division be formed - Tatts Online - and all digital staff consolidate under one banner. This was approved and our first task was to upgrade the stagnant TAB website to the latest technology and betting methodologies. the TABonline website was ground breaking in 1997, but had not made any advances since then, and the rest of the industry had leapfrogged the business. A key aspect of the role was to educate key internal stakeholder on the importance of ensuring not only a website that evolves with the time but which has key, definable metrics that are continuously reportable - more than just "website hits". -
Head Of ItCentreracing Sep 2006 - Feb 2009Centreracing was the racing specific arm of the famous Centrebet. My role was to manage the entire application stack, from developing the website and keeping it up to date, to building from the OS level up all of the associated servers. When I took over, I undertook a period of rework across the server farm - upgrading all server operating systems and putting in place extensive resource and application monitoring and alerts. Working 16hr days for a period of several months, I was able to convert what was a job that needed 5 people to maintain to one that required 2, ensuring the company was able to maintain the same or greater levels of uptime and quality of service for far less. The company was eventually bought outright by Tatts in 2009 and they brought me on board as their digital strategy manager.

Lead TechMultibet Mar 2002 - Aug 2006After Centrebet was sold, it's founder (Terry Lillis) started a new company called Multibet. I was brought in to build the online presence from scratch. In a short but intense period of time, we had created a new brand wagering website and setup the entire infrastructure base on which it ran.One key aspect of this role was it being my first foray into backend wagering automation. I create a new piece of software that would "scrape" the pricing of multiple competitors, amalgamated them according to the bookmakers algorithm and alert us automatically when our prices deviated from the market as a whole.

Project ManagerOcta4 Aug 1996 - Feb 2002My first task at Octa4 (and ISP in Darwin) was to assist on the Centrebet website, translating it to German, Danish, Swedish and Finnish (and starting my journey down the gaming path).I quickly progressed to head up the project team, with multiple clients (Centrebet being the largest).Independently, I establishing an online gaming community - running servers for the burgeoning online gaming market, starting with Counter-Strike. When Octa4 was sold, I kept this community running and it remaining active for more than 10 years.
