I was humbled and elated that as a Cyber Security Analyst, came greater scope of responsibility and opportunity to contribute to Banxa's compliance requirements and business continuity.In addition to my previous Banxa role job description (as Junior Cyber Security Analyst), I started collaborating with our Security Operations Center and Head of Technology to investigate, remediate and report security incidents and alerts. Looking through security monitoring tool logs for anomalies gave me the opportunity to dive into my forensic threat intelligence investigative side. Leading the information security policy uplift and ITGC scoped applications access management projects, and a major security tool migration collaborator role, have also provided opportunities to consistently strengthen my technical and business cyber security contributions and maturity.I will perpetually have the upmost gratitude and cherish every moment in this amazing environment. It was exciting to be part of an up-and-coming tech-unicorn, with a progressive and adaptable approach. Coupled with the amazing entire Banxa team to collaborate with, it never felt like work!

BANXA is a global payment service provider in the digital assets space. They provide a fast, easy, internationally compliant secured payment solution from traditional currencies to cryptocurrency. Life at BANXA, instantly merged all my passions into one role: cyber security, fintech, compliance and crypto…..all wrapped up in a connected culture of empowerment, humility, and open-door communication..Administering security tools, identifying potential security incidents, and contributing to BANXA’s perpetually evolving information security, is what made me spring out of bed every morning. Continually pushing the learning and implementation envelope is a space I love to be in. Conducting security awareness training, security control testing, maintaining Information Security (infosec) compliance, vendor risk assessments, remediation of technical vulnerabilities, and collaborating to update infosec policies was also part of my gig.

An amazing contract role, enabling me to contribute to the remote working capacity of the accountants and auditors. A great office culture, where I could utlilise my administration and attention to detail skills. Most of my time was spent digitising ASIC compliance forms and tax returns into the Document Management System, ensuring documentation is complete and data warehousing is accurately categorised for search functionality. With an opportunity to bring out the librarian in me, learn new applications, and support the team, it's a win-win all round.

This US non-profit provides biohazard remediation, where it is needed most, for those who cannot afford it. I guided them through the creation of a vision, and website. Working with Salesforce Non-profit Cloud, I saved them $3600 USD per year. Creating tight cybersecurity controls in Bitdefender Gravity Zone, Quickbooks, Adobe Creative Suite, Google Workspace, Office 365, and Salesforce Non-profit cloud I established a secure, sustainable ecosystem to support the organisation’s workflow. This is a great case study for my cybersecurity training, as I was tasked with finding, buying, and implementing these elements, as well as ongoing monitoring, which I’m proud to announce, has resulted in zero successful cybersecurity breaches.

Food-service is often seen as a cookie-cutter career. Learn the systems, duplicate them, grow them. For me, I took it as a challenge to not merely do what we were doing well but push my team to exceed expectations on every level. I started with infrastructure, managing the IT needs of the business through Office 365, using cloud migration to modernize operations, and Privileged Access Management to ensure proper levels of access to all users. I acted as coach and cheerleader. In a high-paced industry that can be stressful and isn’t always so rewarding, I built an environment that encouraged accountability, innovation, and personal achievement. One of my favourite parts was innovating our offerings. When Barefoot Investor, Scott Pape, suggested a collaboration on a Barefoot Investor pizza, I went to work and developed “his pizza” that sold almost $100k per year! When a South African expatriate shared memory of home, I built a Boerewors -spicy sausage- pizza that became a favourite, adding $55k in revenue annually.When phone lines were jammed up, I developed an online ordering app, capturing clients that would otherwise have called another cafe, and introducing our product to online buyers. It netted a 7,100% ROI and grew revenue by $220k per year!Seeing an opportunity for increased revenue among corporate clients, I worked to increase our customer base, documenting the process, so that anyone serving that clientele had precise service levels to duplicate. That led to increased revenue of $300k per year.

While others struggle to learn working remotely, this opportunity placed me firmly ahead of the game, working with a company based in Hong Kong, from my home in Melbourne. I created an investor database from scratch, including authentication protocols. Grew the database to over 29k international and 2k Australian funds, leading to $1.3 M in revenue. A large part of the system was built around due diligence, confirming all certifications, licensing, and actual existence of investments to protect client capital. One of the most exciting parts of my job was working with international investment regulators and watchdogs to provide verifiable proof of investment scams. I was personally able to identify and get 15 scams listed worldwide, saving investors potential millions in losses. My greatest success in forensic investigation, led to 80% of investor’s funds being restored, totalling almost $6M. But the greatest reward was knowing hard-working people’s funds were more secure. To aid in scam identification, I created a list of questions for investors to ask during due diligence. I built an accompanying tool for risk management that helped determine when to take profit and exit an investment safely.
