Mediation is the process in which two or more parties in conflict agree to work toward understanding and resolving their differences with the help of a neutral third party (the mediator). The agreements that are reached in the process are more satisfactory and longer lasting then a judgment from a court. It helps save business and family relationships and allows the parties to move forward, without the costly and lengthy process through the court system. The process is confidential. A mediator is not a judge and will not impose solutions or render a judgment. The parties themselves reach a mutually acceptable agreement, with the facilitative help of the mediator. Especially in the equestrian field we face a multitude of disputes on a daily basis that can be solved with alternative dispute resolutions, instead of lawyers and courts. Often it is worth saving a relationship then breaking all ties. Disputes occur in: horse sales and purchases, veterinary arrangements, shipping, training, dealing with insurances, landlord-tenant arrangements, leases, etc. Speak to a mediator before heading to court.
