I am interested in job opportunities based in London (UK) and/or remote opportunities within the fields of cultural anthropology and sociology, with a specific focus on: Chad, CAR, the Sahel, communication (technologies), mobility, migration, insecurity, mobile money, remittances, and pastoral-nomadism.Having studied cultural anthropology and sociology at the University of Leiden (MA in 2006), I have a special interest in the Arabic language and culture (BA in 2010). My MA fieldwork took place in Cairo, Egypt among the informal garbage collectors, the zabbaleen. In 2020 I defended my PhD dissertation at Leiden University. The PhD looked into the everyday lives of a group of Chadian semi-sedentary nomads, and how these lives link up to regional socio-economic networks, socio-political insecurities and global technologies. In between (2015-2016) I coordinated a research project on attitudes and perceptions of digital financial service (DFS) use in four African countries. I am currently consulting as Country of Origin expert with Communitology.
