The content that Esri Nederland offers is presented as the Living Atlas of the Netherlands. It is a huge collection of maps and geographic data on all kinds of relevant topics. As a content specialist I contribute to the continuous updating and expansion of the current data offer. For example, we monthly update basic registers including BAG and BGT, but also develop new layers, such as the Climate Impact Atlas, energy labelling of buildings and 3D buildings. In addition, we administer and maintain the Dutch basemaps (incl. topographic, canvas and imagery) that are used more than 5 billion times a year.

MSc Internship Research (9,0/10): Seagrass in the Southeast Aegean Sea: A review of remote sensing image classification techniques for seagrass distribution mapping During this GIS research internship my main project is the modelling of Posidonia oceanica (sea grass) meadows in the Southeast Aegean Sea, with the aim to map its distribution in order to protect these valuable areas from degradation. Geographical Information Systems are extensively used in combination with the processing of satellite imagery. Within this project I specifically focused on the image classification process of the remote sensing method for mapping sea grass. I reviewed different classification techniques, including Maximum Likelihood, Support Vector Machine and Random Forest, with the overarching goal to optimize the accuracy of the final maps. Additional activities are:• Leading of different on- and offshore field operations, including eco-navigation and kayak-based sonar surveys. Responsibilities are to set up equipment, inform participants about protocols and safety and collecting and processing data. • Supporting multiple teams with GIS related work, including the terrestrial, marine mammal and marine conservation teams. Responsibilities are to manage databases, process and analyse spatial data and create desired output products. • Assisting in field courses of student groups from Essex and Cardiff Universities, England, by means of GIS tutorials and boat surveys. Leading and guidance of kayak-based sonar surveys. • Drafting and implementing of tutorials in both ArcGIS and QGIS for interns and employees• Preparing reports for and communicating with international bodies, including SPARAC and UN• Training and coaching of new GIS interns

MSc Thesis Research (8,5/10): Exploring 3D functionalities: A research into GIS software that support the spatial analysis and visualisation of 3D subsurface dataThis master research evaluates and scores five different GIS software packages on its suitability to support subsurface data in 3D using a Multiple-Criteria Analysis. From the research it is concluded that Leapfrog Works results in the most suitable software package for this study, since it offers extensive subsurface operations within a user-friendly environment. Advanced users can create reliable subsurface models that include area-specific knowledge and basic users can interactively view the outputs online. Additional responsibilities are: • Participation in innovation team to develop new software solutions, specifically for 3D spatial data• Demonstrating ideas and vision at an innovation conference meeting for clients and stakeholders • Presenting results to senior management for innovation budget
