Inge Huybrechts is a nutritional epidemiologist with a background in nutrition and dietetics and a PhD in medical sciences (Ghent University, Belgium). She investigated lifestyle causes of non-communicable diseases, addressed by observational and intervention studies. She mainly focused her research on risk factors of obesity, the metabolic syndrome and cancer and has particular interest in adverse health effects of the nutrition transition. She looked at different periods of the life-cycle, including pregnancy, infancy, childhood and adolescence. Her most challenging project is called “Motherhood”, a lifetime mission embracing love and trust while involving continuous trials and errors … mitigated by forgiveness and acceptance.
