Boden, Sweden

Forest owners cooperative and sawmill. Saved the cooperative from bankruptcy by closing the production of sawn timber at Bodensågen and then conducting a merger with the neighbouring cooperative south of NLS.

Byske, Sweden

Design, manufacturing and marketing of lumber handling equipment. Turnover 200 MSEK. Made a turn-around in both companies by out-sourcaing the manufacturing part of the process.

Piteå, Sweden

Turnover 2500 MSEK. Started up a heavy rationalisation program including 25 %-ig redukction of the workforce at the mill. Had to resign because of political tumult and ministerial involvement in the state owned AssiDomän group.

Karlsborg, Sweden

Produkction and sales of pulp and kraftpaper. Turnover 1200 MSEK. Made a turn-around by reducing the workforce from 580 to 460 employees and then transforming the organisation into a goal driven one. The total cost reduction was 70 MSEK per year and the whole of the organisation became highly motivated. Today the Karlsborg mill belongs to the BillerudKorsnäs group and for years after I left it was their most profitable mill.

Piteå And Seskarö, Sweden

Sawmills with a turnover of 500 MSEK. The sawmills were transformed from production units within the Assi group to independent companies within the Domän Timber group. The production went from bulk to value-added and the sales from importers all over Western Europe to direct sales to wood working industries. This included the set up of a new sales organisation and making out new marketing strategies. For a number of years Lövholmen and Seskarö were the most profitable in the Domän Timber group which consisted of 12 companies.

Produkction of sawn timber. Assi Timber had low profitability in their sawmills. This in combination with a shortage in raw material supply lead to a change in ownership for Lövholmen sawmill to the Domän group. The Domän group introduced a program including heavy investment in production equipment and a reduction of the workforce from 220 down tol 130 employees.

Sales of very sophisticated rock drilling equipmen that was developed in close cooperation with the customer in his mine. One of the successful projects involved the development of the first automated drilling rig in LKAB´s undergroung mine in Kiruna.

The main research project during these yearswas the testing of Sweden’s first electrically powered wheel loader, powered by means of cablemed. The project was conducted in cooperation with the Swedish mining companies LKAB ochand Boliden
