Marathon är ett investmentbolag helt inriktat på nischade onoterade mjukvarubolag och ser sig själva som ett "förvärvande mjukvarubolag" under uppskalningsfas.

Letade minilitet mjukvaruföretag att köpa för att bli lågrisk-entreprenör. Fick då ett meddelande av Marathon Software (f.d. Tempeludden) som sökte någon att utreda potentialen för en nisch-mjukvara och sedermera ta fram produkten om potential fanns. Marathon fann mig som en minimalt kassaflödespåverkande, ambitiös och driven själ till sitt projekt och jag fick möjligheten att lågrisk-testa livet som entreprenör. Jag blev vad jag kallar en fuskeprenör.Ett år satsades helhjärtat på att skapa ett affärssystem för flyttfirmor. Marknaden visade sig liten, men existerande. Det fanns intresse från flera potentiella kunder som ville köpa den skissade produkt de fick se till kommunicerad prisnivå.Till syvende och sist föll projektet då ett antal grundpremisser visade sig felaktiga och några omständligheter olyckliga. Dels hade Marathon nyligen köpt ett annat affärssystem där systemet som köptes skulle ha ett API som täckte merparten av backend-behoven. APIet skulle användas för att bygga ny frontend mot. Det visade sig att APIet var otillräckligt. Samtidigt kunde inte dialog med bolaget om deras API ske i tid pga en då pågående intern kris hos dem.Med projektets korta monetära runway fanns inte utrymme för att bygga en helhetslösning, och med den begränsade marknadspotential som fanns såg Marathon inte skäl att allokera ytterligare kapital till projektet. Vi nådde en punkt där jag rekommenderade en nedsläckning av projektet.
