A large FP7 study funded by the European Commission (OPTiMiSE) was completed in 2018, aiming to optimise treatment for patients with schizophrenia, together with European top-researchers. Various publications have appeared in prominent journals.Recently, another large European study (EULAST), conducted by 50 European and Israëli sites, was completed and published in Lancet Psychiatry. The study aimed to compare time to discontinuation in patients with schizophrenia using depot antipsychotics versus patients treated with oral medication. PSYSCAN, the 3rd study managed by our group, aims to develop a prediction model for treatment course and outcome in first episode psychosis. Recruitment was completed Q2 2019, first papers are recently published, more to follow shortly. PURPOSE: a challenging, placebo-controlled, study concerns subjects at ultra high risk for psychosis, and collects unique neuroimaging and immunological data from children and adolescents. The first publication is expected in 2023. Other endavours concern PRISM (deep phenotyping study investigating biological similarities as a bases for social withdrawal across neuropsychiatric diseases); AIMS2 (EU study involving children/adolescents with ASD, treated with arbaclofen versus placebo) and the Enlighten-Early program (2 registration trials currently running in the EU and Israel, as part of the FDA registration dossier of samidorphan). 10-year employment in pharmaceutical industry on my record (Medical Department), during which I completed a PhD research focussing on bipolar disorder (University Maastricht) in Jan 2010.
