In my most recent role as a Safeguarding and Inclusion officer, I mentor and support children through personalized support, as well as ensuring the needs of SEND and inclusion children are being met and supported, this information is tracked throughout IPRA’s, also allowing support for individual staff to keep hem aware of their students needs. A large part of my role includes been computer literate and keeping up to date with CPOM’s a child protection database, ensuring all reports of incidents are dealt with efficiently. This also allows me to support my Safeguarding lead and team member and keep myself up to date with CP (child protection) children, CIN (child in need) and LAC (looked after children), alongside EHCP’s and TAFs.Safeguarding work very closely alongside the attendance and behavior team, meaning that when needed I will support or conduct home visits to ensure the safety of a child as well as to liaison with a parent. This also includes supporting behavior incidents or communicating and supporting Isolation when a child is struggling.My role requires me to work closely with multi-agencies such as, Place2Talk, Place2Be, Mind Mate, Forward Leeds, and Child Bereavement UK.

In my most recent role as a Nursery Practitioner, I am responsible for providing care and looking after children, varying in age and care requirements. Mainly my focus is to provide tailored care to children depending on their requirements and circumstances. Within this role I have used my supportive nature to safeguard children, causing minimal disruption to their own daily routines and needs. Due to my qualifications, I have taken on responsibilities such as Baseline Assessments, Observations, and two-year progress checks. Throughout my time completing these tasks, I have learnt these need to be completed to a high standard. Continuing to uphold standard sector practices ensures children progress at a natural rate, uncover any potential problems or areas of concern as well as maintain practice reputation. To ensure children are safeguarded to both industry standard, and to the best of my ability I have learnt to effectively communicate and liaise with parents, colleagues and children, work under my own initiative, or as part of a team where required, administer first aid and complete, archive and file paperwork to a practice standard.

Whilst working at Mothercare my role varied largely depending on the needs of the business. During my time within this role, I showed an interest in the childcare industry. As a result of this interest, I took on the role of demonstrations and sales. Mainly my regular duties were to provide demonstrations of new and existing product ranges as well as identify and close sales within these ranges. Throughout my time within this role, I learned to use active listening to obtain an understanding of the customer's requirements. Using this skill set in conjunction with my extensive product knowledge, I ensured the correct products were purchased based on the circumstantial requirements of the individual or family. Upholding this level of service helped to create a lasting impression of security and safety when using our products. Due to the busy nature of the business, I was often tasked to complete online and in-store orders, process finance plans or payments via Klarna, as well as process card and cash payments. Due to my careful attention to detail, I was often placed in areas where organizational skills were paramount, such as repairs and returns, stock taking, and stock management or training. Often working as part of a wider team, I found myself within positions of leadership, taking control to ensure daily tasks were completed to the company standard within acceptable timeframes.

Working alongside a team of chefs and management I helped to create a positive impression of the well-known establishment in Leeds. My role within Aspire Igen was undertaken as part of placement through my University, Leeds Trinity. As part of the placement, I carried out an extensive range of smaller roles within the organization to ensure my placement provided me with the relevant experience for me, at the time, the desired field.My main role was to provide initial and ongoing support to students currently enrolled within the college to allow them to achieve and exceed their targets. Mainly shadowing lessons, I provided support in areas such as Maths and English, as well as Vocational Subjects such as Health and Social Care and English to Speakers of Other Language (ESOL). To allow me to provide the relevant support to students, I often found myself providing advice and, reinforcement and pastoral care, as well as academic support. When I was not providing support within lessons, I would often find myself within the Engagement and Support Team who specialize in generating and maintaining engagement and additional support for students with vulnerability, or individuals particularly susceptible to harm or risk. This would often entail sitting in meetings, accurate and concise note taking, and liaising with parents. During my own time away from the placement I would often find myself volunteering additional time and resources to receive inbound and make outbound calls to students, parents, and guardians.Throughout my time within this role, I learned time management skills along with the ability to prioritize daily tasks in order of importance. Due to the complex requirements surrounding some students enrolled within the college, I also learnt to be adaptable and understanding, and prioritize ADHOC tasks as part of a normal workload. Throughout my time within this role, I often found myself in a capacity of advice and caregiving to those at risk of or currently experiencing mental health issues.

CHILDMINDING. On a part-time but regular basis, I provided child minding services for the children of family and friends. I mainly looked after the children by carrying out normal caregiver duties, such as cooking, cleaning, changing, and entertainment. As a result of offering a safe but caring environment, I continued this work regularly and still find myself doing this if family or friends require help.SCHOOL ASSISTANT.I have an extensive background in working with children and young people. I have experience of working in a nursery and a primary school with children aged 0-5 years. Where I would do one-to-one learning and group work with the children. Through this job, I gained experience of working with children with a variety of needs and personalities. This role also allowed me to learn new tasks of how to develop the children's skills and knowledge in core subjects (i.e., math and literacy). While within this role I was also able to put the stages of development along with the policies and procedures in childcare into practice. I had the responsibility of supporting teachers. Caring for the children by ensuring they are safeguarded and well looked after, as well as consulting with the parent and carers.
