Ingo Strobel grows up in Frankfurt, Bremen and Berlin. He studies design at Hochschule der Künste in Berlin till 1993. 1996 he founds motorberlin, after working at Herbert Jakob Weinand’s gallery, amongst other projects on the Hotel Bleibtreu 31.His portfolio contains companies such as Columbia Tristar, Österreich Werbung, ARD TV, Volkswagen, Red Bull, microsoft and Hyundai. In 2001 his studio designs the interior of the Victoria Bar in Berlin. He works in projects with Ettore Sottsass, Johanna Grawunder, Flip Sellin, Piero Lissoni, Francois Burkhardt and Richard Duardo. In 2006 in Los Angeles Duardo and Strobel found the ‘Hidden Fortress’, as an international network of creative friends. In 2008 with Hidden Fortress he organises ‘Made in Berlin’, a presentation of young Berlin-based designers at the Salone Internazionale del Mobile in Milano. in 2009 he finances and organises the prototype of a workshop for the Bauhaus Archive Berlin ‘Bauhaus Live’ for international students and young designers with the collaboration of Werner Aisslinger. In 2010 he designs the interior of the Buck & Breck, a premium bar which since 2013 is listed at „50 Best Bars Worldwide“. In 2015 an anteroom is added to the Buck & Breck by Hidden Fortress.In 2014 the Hidden Fortress design studio is re-launched with two friends and colleagues, Jan Maley and Björn Meier. Amongst their new clients are agencies such as Meta Design, Triad and Proof & Sons, companies such as the Gekko Group / Roomers Hotels, the famous Jägermeister liquor brand and Samuel Braun Hotels Berlin. Another bar interior has been commissioned in Frankfurt/Main in 2015. The Seven Swans & the Tiny Cup won the Best New Bar 2016 at the BCB 2015. Since 2015 a couple of popular hospitality projects were realized with Hidden Fortress, amongst them the Fajoma Bar in Havana, Cuba, the About:Berlin hotel in Berlin, a bar for the Jägermeister headquarter in Wolfenbuttel, and the bar landscape at the Kink Restaurant, Berlin.Another field of interest for his design firm is the development of office spaces, especially in the sense of exploring directions of future office culture developments. A good example for these kind of projects would be the headquarter of Falling Walls on Kochstrasse in Berlin. The foundation of Sebastian Turner organises international science events amongst interdisciplinary participants. Ingo Strobel lives in Berlin.
