Scope: Olympic Dam is a mining centre in South Australia, located some 575 km NW of Adelaide. It is the site of an extremely large iron oxide, copper, gold deposit producing copper, uranium, gold and silver. The site hosts an underground mine as well as an integrated metallurgical processing plant. It is the fourth largest copper deposit and the largest known single deposit of uranium in the world. My role encompasses the Technical Governance of Olympic Dam Projects, Technical and Safety Audits and implementing industry best engineering standards to improve productivity and safety. I am responsible for maintaining the integrity of the plant structures and civil infrastructure, which includes underground mine, haulage systems, hoisting systems, hydrometallurgical plant, concentrator, smelter, refinery, desalination plant, bore-field pipelines, road network, potable water and process water storage dams, tailings storage facilities and evaporation ponds. Additionally I am the site-wide critical controls owner for working at heights material risk. I have developed various structural integrity and safety audit processes which are currently being used as standard on site. The new mine development included a 2,000 tph crushing station and series of lateral and incline conveyors, transfer stations, ROM Bin and Crushed Ore Bin.• BHPBIO/FASTJV Rapid Growth Project 6 (RGP6) – Mines: Technical reviewer of detailed engineering design of the new stockyard stacker conveyors and reclaim conveyor, stockpile conveyors, shuttle, belt feeder, bin, transfer chutes and transfer station layout for the Jimblebar expansion. The new plant included a 1.2km 16,000 tph reclaim conveyor with shuttle head, two train loadout conveyors feeding new stockpiles and a bulking-in bin with shuttle belt feeder below.• BHPBIO/FASTJV Rapid Growth Project 5 (RGP5) – Mines: Lead Engineer for Detailed Engineering Design of the new stockyard reclaim conveyor, stockpile conveyors, shuttle, transfer chutes and transfer station structures for the Yandi expansion. The new plant included a 1.6km 14,000tph reclaim conveyor and train loadout conveyors feeding existing stockpiles.
