About James Ingram

I graduated from Vancouver Film School in Video Game Design in December 2022, and additionally graduated from the Writing for Film, Television and Games program, also at VFS, in April 2024. My most recent work in the game industry has been a short-term contract as a playtester. I am currently seeking opportunities in quality assurance work in the industry.In my spare time, I am also passionate about narrative design - working to promote environmental storytelling in games, build worlds and craft engaging character backstories.     Contracted for a fixed term of three weeks to conduct a comprehensive audit of assets at EA Vancouver, both at Burnaby Campus and at 1077 Great Northern Way. Worked in IT department at Burnaby campus; went from desk to desk scanning assets including (but not limited to) desktop towers, laptops, monitors, TVs, consoles, console development kits, power distribution units and audio equipment. In collaboration with fellow team members and supervisors, kept a detailed spreadsheet documenting every asset and all available information on these assets. Coordinated individual areas of audit work on each floor, referring to and updating a collection of maps.Also involved in storing and moving equipment, carefully removing component parts on selected devices, and returning them to IT department for future use in other devices.

    I was the visual effects (VFX) artist for my team's final student project, Iron Casket, which is a third-person shooter game where the player assumes the role of a giant mech robot who uses the weapons in their arsenal to advance through a city, defeat enemy mechs and complete certain objectives. I create a variety of visual effects, including explosions, bullet traces, muzzle flashes, various weapon impacts, and an array of environmental VFX. My job also includes optimization of my VFX to facilitate workflow and maintain a frame budget that is compatible with the dimensions of our game, reference-gathering to help me create assets that fit into the game's art style, and communicating with my teammates about what assistance I need from them and vice-versa.
