INGRID JAMES (Voice, Australia) Ingrid is a singer “whose note-perfect delivery and depth of lyrical expression has elevated her into the elite of Australia’s musical talents”. (Steve Robertson, Portland Observer 2012)Ingrid is based in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia and currently undertaking her Masters in Music (Vocal Pedagogy) at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music. She also completed post graduate studies at the Australian Film Television and Radio School. She teaches privately and conducts workshops and master classes in Australia and internationally including the UK, Prague and France. She performs for corporate events and in national festivals as well as regular international tours. She has also mentored young singers through workshops hosted by the Queensland Education Department's (Creative Generation 2008-2011) and has produced and hosted the Jazz Singers' Jam Nights since 2001 to present - a monthly event held at the Brisbane Jazz Club.Ingrid has performed around Australia at many jazz festivals and at the Queensland Performing Arts Centre’s Concert Hall with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra and Queensland Philharmonic Orchestra as soloist. 6 of her albums have been released nationally in Australia with two also released internationally. She has won 2 awards for Best Jazz CD in Queensland (Qld Sunnie Awards) and Best Original Jazz Song (QSong) co-written with Louise Denson. Ingrid was featured on 2 US CD's “Lost My Heart” & "Blue Confluence" which were both recorded in Burbank, Los Angeles with LA based jazz ensemble San Gabriel 7 featuring the 7-time Downbeat Magazine winner for Trombonist of the Year – Bill Watrous and saxophonist, Eric Marienthal. Bill said of Ingrid after recording and touring with her – “If this were the 50’s Jazz era, Ingrid James would be performing alongside other greats such as Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday. She is by far one of the best jazz vocalists I have ever worked with.”
