Ingrid works to increase employers’ participation in career connected learning opportunities across Washington state. She serves on the Career Connect Washington leadership team, designs strategies to drive employer engagement and partnership, and promotes career connected learning statewide.

As communications director for Partnership for Learning, Ingrid was responsible for overseeing varied strategies to share information with students, teachers, parents and the public about the importance of high expectations for students as they prepare for life after high school. Ingrid co-led the Ready Washington coalition, a group of state and local education agencies, associations and advocates who work together to communicate about college and career readiness. Ingrid used creative outreach to incorporate student, teacher and parent voices into digital media campaigns, videos, fact sheets and other communications channels. She is a skilled facilitator who managed an ongoing process to center racial equity in organizational communications efforts. Her goal was to support more students and parents -- especially those who have been marginalized from the education system -- access the information and tools they need to make the most of the public education system so students can graduate and pursue they path of their choice.

As communications director for Congressman Rick Larsen, who represents Washington state’s Second District, Ingrid led the office’s communications strategy. She oversaw all media relations, digital strategy and constituent outreach. Ingrid proactively built relationships with and pitched stories to local and national reporters through regular media releases and individual contact. She also wrote op-eds, handled all press inquires and served as the Congressman’s spokesperson. To increase the Congressman’s visibility and interaction with constituents while he was in Washington, D.C., Ingrid launched the Congressman’s Instagram account and has broadened his social media reach on Facebook and Twitter. She also managed e-newsletters to constituents and the constituent mail program, and she was responsible for writing and polishing speeches and talking points.

In her work as senior associate for state policy with the Pew Charitable Trusts' home visiting campaign, Ingrid managed advocacy campaigns in states, all aiming to help state governments run more efficiently and effectively by investing in early childhood programs that are proven to produce results. Ingrid led strategy sessions with state partners, designed communications products for their work and connected partners to national resources in the federal government and nonprofit sectors.

Ingrid covered the economy, the housing market, retail, agriculture and the wine industry. Her work for this McClatchy daily newspaper in Central Washington state kindled her interest in public policy. Researching, understanding and reporting the relationships between federal policy and local reality motivated her to pursue her master’s in public policy at Georgetown University and policy work at Pew.
