This post has developed significantly under my stewardship to become more practical for members with a greater focus on project development and allowing members to customise the information they receive with innovative use of databases and web applications. I supported ESEC members and their partners on the following areas: • EU policy legislative research, intelligence & advocacy including engagement with Scottish Government, UK Government, MEPs, and the European Commission as well as other more informal channels and networks• EU funding advice, intelligence and strategy development• EU project development (transnational and/or regional partnerships)• Event management, facilitated partnership working and networking opportunities• Representation on key committees and networks for local government purposes within Scotland and the EU Show less

Glasgow & Brussels

Based from both Glasgow and Brussels the purpose of this secondment was to lead on Scotland Europa's EU regional policy portfolio and help support the development of strategic EU projects. As a consequence of this secondment it enabled both teams to better understand the virtuous cycle between policy and projects, by heightening the teams' awareness of the benefit of policy knowledge to be more effective in EU funding.
