Building a solution to my own problem: Prior to getting into tech, I was a professional screenwriter and I experienced firsthand the challenges of growing a successful career without a supportive network of like-minded women. Despite achieving a lifelong goal of selling an original spec script to A-list producers and watching it become a blockbuster film with a $30 million budget, I realized that sustaining success in network-driven Hollywood required more than just talent and hard work. I was missing an engaged network of supporters. And yet, I found a gap in the market for products that would solve this problem for me. Driven by this realization, I pursued a Master's in Science in Integrated Design, Business, and Technology from USC, where I conducted extensive user research and discovered that many ambitious women across industries faced the same obstacles. They intuitively understood the power of an engaged network, but lacked an easy and accessible way to find one.Determined to solve this problem, I founded Tens: a social media mobile app that solves for the the network gap by providing women with a platform dedicated to building impactful communities and empowering personal growth all in one place. Our goal: Gender parity. The World Economic Forum is telling us that if the current rate of progress is maintained, it will take 132 years to reach gender parity globally - a number that only got bigger after the covid pandemic, which disproportionately impacted women. Powerful networks are the key to accelerating female representation and Tens will ensure that every woman who wants a powerful network to support them has one.Tens' commitment to empowering women has been a singular mission that has resonated with our broader community. We have participated in incredible startup cohorts like the Marshall/Greif Incubator, Cornell Accelerator, and the Google: Women Who Lead Program, and have spoke as a panelist at one of USC's biggest events, The USC Women's Conference.Join us in closing the network gap!
