Born in New Mexico and raised in Marietta Georgia, Ingrid’s unique brand of spoken word and poetry has landed her in the company of some of the most influential artists of our time. Ingrid co-wrote the song Justify My Love with Lenny Kravitz for Madonna, appeared on Prince’s album Lovesexy, and co-starred in his film Grafitti Bridge. She later went on to work with Ryuichi Sakamoto and David Sylvian. After taking a few years off to raise children, she returned to her creative roots and released three more albums under her own independent label, Ten Windows Records. It is through her musical roots in the Minneapolis music scene that she crossed paths with Jacqui Thompson, with whom she has worked on various creative and philanthropic projects and causes over the past few years. Ingrid has made a life and career of carving her own path. Her approach to creating Las Melodías Mezcal is born out of that same spirit. With Jacqui, their experience in the music industry and a shared vision for the future of Mezcal gives their partnership a unique advantage. Creating a labor of love with Mexican roots is right where Ingrid wants to be in her life and her career. As a Hispanic woman born in America during a time when Mexican-American people were wishing to assimilate, the Spanish language and culture were lost to her generation. This connection to Mexico and the spirit of agave is especially close to her heart.
