About Ingrid Kopp
I have been working in media for over 20 years, focusing on the intersections between storytelling and technology since 2006. More recently, I have also done work on journalism impact strategy and evaluation with news organisations in Africa.I am co-founder and co-director of Electric South, a non-profit organisation based in Cape Town, South Africa. We incubate, fund and exhibit the work of African creators with a focus on XR and immersive media. I am currently co-chair of the Global Future Council on the Future of Metaverse at the World Economic Forum. Previously I was co-chair of the Global Future Council on Augmented and Virtual Reality.I am also a founder and current member of the Immerse editorial collective. Immerse is a publication on emerging non-fiction storytelling. Up until 2019 I curated Storyscapes at the Tribeca Film Festival. Prior to moving back to South Africa I was Director of Interactive at the Tribeca Film Institute, supporting interactive, cross-platform projects, including virtual reality, and exploring the future of media. I created Tribeca Hacks and TFI Interactive to create a space for story+tech+design experiments and conversation.I have been on the jury at numerous film festivals, including Sundance (World Cinema) and IDFA (DocLab). I've been an adviser on the Sundance Creative Producing Lab and given talks all over the world. I love creating new collaborations through labs, workshops, and conferences around interactive and immersive storytelling, virtual reality, ethical AI, worldbuilding, and digital access.I also love facilitating conversations. I moderated CPH:FORUM for many years and continue to moderate the IDFA DocLab Forum.
