Dr. Michael Schwartz, Dr. Jarrad Scarlett, Dr. Greg Morten, and Dr. Kimberly Alonge Laboratories. Assisted on projects investigating hypothalamic and neuroendocrine control of energy balance and glucose metabolism, and on central nervous system mechanisms involved in obesity, insulin resistance, and diabetes. Contributed to projects investigating the role of Alzheimer's Disease and other age-related diseases on perineuronal net composition in rodent brain models. Expertise in identifying and outlining neuroanatomical structures, imaging of coronal brain sections, and cell quantification techniques. Technical skills:Transcardial perfusion and brain extraction, tissue extraction and preparation, microtome and cryostat sectioning, immunohistochemistry, mounting/slide preparation, fluorescence and confocal microscopy, laser capture microdissection, western blot, mouse and rat handling, and rodent stereotactic brain surgeries. Analytical skills acquired in position include: Adobe, QuPath cell quantification, Image J and Fiji, RStudio, and Prism. Extensive experience in western blot and immunohistochemistry quantitative analysis.
