You need to learn how to live with the symptoms - or suppress them.My clients and I know that this does not have to be the case!The problem is that logic does not usually resolve traumas. You can talk about a trauma forever - and commonly all that happens is you become unpacked, with a big risk of being re-traumatised and very little or no progress.The brain and body, which are storing the traumatic memory, need a different approach. One that is not logic-based.The approach I use is modern, safe and non-retraumatising. In a step-by-step process, the traumatic memory is gently uncoupled from the automatic stress response in the body and mind.With PTS, the natural "fight or flight" stress response has stayed switched on. It can be switched off again.This is what I help clients do - I guide them through a gentle, safe process which achieves this result.By the end of the session, the traumatic memory becomes like any other memory - and no longer triggers the involuntary, distressing symptoms."Coping" with symptoms and truly resolving a traumatic memory are completely different.Truly resolving a trauma is an amazing experience - and feels wonderful.
