Previously, I was Business Development Manager at the Creative Quarter in Nottingham, helping and supporting creative/digital entrepreneurs and SMEs in the East Midlands with the ERDF-funded Big House programme.So, here's some background: Growing up in a family of entrepreneurs, including my father, was fascinating and a great learning experience. In his time, Dad set up numerous businesses, most successful, and some disasters. Fortunately, I witnessed his ability to create a business out of nothing and all it entailed. So, some of it must have sunk in!I started my career as a trainee programmer and progressed to team leadership and project management. I finally became Director of Technical Services, managing a Division, working with several businesses at home (UK), in Europe and a 3-year stint in the USA. I have set up two companies of my own (IT and Online marketing) and worked in the family businesses (Food, Fashion CMT, and Retail).My business advice and support career started with Business Lin. They continued with many other support organisations, including ATL (Yorkshire) Ltd, West & North Yorkshire Chamber, Winning Pitch and the Creative Quarter.My knowledge, skills and experience span business development, managing projects and setting up and managing operations, business coaching and mentoring, marketing and delivery of business services, including many ERDF-funded projects. And I have worked with various business types and sectors at a senior decision-maker level.During my career, I have implemented many business change projects, e.g. marketing strategy development, improving customer services, procurement, events delivery framework, introducing company-wide CRMs, acquiring accreditations, Investors in People, ISO 27001, Customer First and Matrix Management.Notable projects include work with Business Link, Yorkshire Forward, Dept. of Business Innovation & Skills, Bradford Council, West & North Yorkshire Chamber, NHS, Coca-Cola, Leeds Council, A4E and Working Links.
