In my nearly 30 years of experience, I've had the opportunity to serve as a clinical hygienist and/or hygiene coach in a wide variety of clinical settings including private practice, group practice and in faculty practice and research at my Alma Mater, the University of North Carolina School of Dentistry.In the early years of my career, I studied everything I could get my hands on about advanced hygiene duties, the perio systemic link, personal development and more. I started engaging the doctors I worked with to teach me about dentistry and their treatment philosophy. It opened my eyes to the vast amount of knowledge and growth that still awaited me. I continue to remain connected to clinical practice, and that is still a part of my core values as a hygiene coach and speaker.I saw very clearly the impact that a hygienist can make in a patients' life, even beyond the dental chair.
