A FLAEYC Play Coach: Play Training for Educators focuses on intentional teaching strategies:Guide and Facilitate teachers, administrators, and early education agencies toLLearn to create quality self-active play experiences for children and adults using open-ended materials.Construct, implement and evaluate new approaches to teaching.Strengthen the vision of "Self" as play advocate.Develop more reflective teaching practices.Deepen understanding of the teacher’s role in the learning process.Develop strategies for building business partnerships to acquire open-ended materials.Explore action strategies for strengthening NAEYC affiliate play, policy and practice.

Providing engaging and insightful learning opportunities (both in persona dn virtual) for the development and implementation of early childhood and special education courses for students pursuing a field in early childhood education. I work closely with our Dept Chair and Associate Professor to assess and evaluate the needs of our students and then create opportunities for educational advancement. Counseling students who are entering the field as well as seasoned teachers and directors must be a continued process to ensure successful completion. Empowerment is my passion!

Helping Families Thrive: You can play a vital role in Safe Families for Children (Safe Families) by volunteering as a Family Coach to help parents in crisis get back on their feet.As a Family Coach, I will :Support the Host Family. This ensures that families get the support and resources they need to provide a safe and nurturing environment for children.Monitor children’s safety. Because safety is a top priority, the Family Coach begins assessing safety within 48 hours of a child moving in with the Host Family—and each week for at least a month.Provide a family in need with resources, such as community referrals and assistance in making their appointments.Facilitate the relationship between the Host Family and the Family in need with compassion and empathy.I will also:Listen to Host Families and Families in need. The Family Coach provides space for them to express their thoughts and concerns.Manage expectations. For example, the Host Family may feel that they must fix problems or situations that are not their responsibility. Alternately, if a hosting arrangement seems longer than expected, the Family Coach is needed to temper expectations.Show empathy, hope, grace, and compassion. We work hard to err on the side of grace.Problem solve. Family Coaches work with the church and other community resources to assist Families in need.Reassure. Stressful situations require a calm presence and the ability to give hope to those who may feel hopeless

Over the past 25 years, TLC Preschool of Sebastian has increased in services and capacity for the families of Indian River County. Staff development and empowerment is used to create energetic learning environments for children ages 1-11 years. This along with the efforts of our DCF Licensing agent, Early Learning Coalition and our Sebastian River Area Chamber of Commerce has created one the of top Preschools in the area for children and families. TLC Preschool of Sebastian monitors current educational, child development and marketing trends and continues to change/improve it's services to meet the diverse needs of the community.
