Profile bio

About Louie S.

I have over two decades of workforce learning and development practical experience grounded in a graduate degree in adult education and training. My experience includes nine academies, training centers, and learning institutions that teach technical, non-technical, high-risk, law enforcement, intelligence, leadership, conventional warfare, and special operations skills. I have had the privilege to lead and work on dozens of organizational learning solutions and courses that have organizational and global impact — building and revising them to keep pace with the changing demands of clients and current world conditions. Each learning solution or course is performance-based, outcome-focused, and learner-centered to accelerate the transfer of skills from the learning environment to on-the-job success. With an in-depth and wide breadth of experiences ranging from instructor, instructor-mentor, school operations, to school director, I know what tools and resources organizations and instructors need to prepare the next generation to accomplish the organization's mission.I enjoy working with subject-matter experts and instructors to bring their real-world experiences into the learning environment to transfer not only their knowledge and skills but more importantly, to accelerate development of the learners’ cognitive readiness. My philosophy of training and education is “train like you fight,” a philosophy that enables learners to hit the ground running and succeed once they leave the learning environment. I love to work with schools to optimize and leverage their resources while building learning experiences that enable learners to improvise, overcome, and adapt to rapidly changing conditions, and to have a bias for action to accomplish the mission.Note: The activity and posts on this site represent my personal opinions and not those of DHS or CBP.
