    The vision of this PhD thesis is a new Era of eco-sustainable, low-power, affordable, flexible, and customizable, printed smart-systems onto paper/“paper-like” platforms to serve the comfort and welfare of citizens. To accomplish this vision, the R&D activities are focused on two key essential pieces of a transistor, the semiconductor (“heart”) and dielectric (“brain”). These materials are designed using cellulose-based materials as suitable matrix hosting the active material, which are integrated on paper substrates or reengineered cellulose “paper-like” ionic conductive substrates targeting low-power operation and low-temperature processing, while ensuring flexibility, recyclability/ biodegradability. User-friendly manufacturing processes, such as screen-printing and handwriting techniques as well as simple lamination processes, are used to create “on-demand” personal printed/ handwritten transistors and circuits, while having fun at it and without generating waste.Skills:- Experienced in materials processing ( cork, oxide and carbon materials), ink formulation, deposition methods (thermal evaporation, e beam evaporation, sputtering, screen printing, flexo printing, doctor blade, spin coating, spray coating, dip coating), characterization of materials and devices ( circuits, sensors, chromogenic tags, supercapacitors) and data analysis ( SEM, EDX, FTIR, AFM, DSC TGA, EIS, cyclic voltammetry, UV VIS NIR spectroscopy, I V curves);- Work in multicultural environments and speak English fluently, thanks to participation in various networking events, interaction with ERASMUS students and international researchers, and trips around Europe;- Ability to write high quality technical and scientific reports.
