I am a highly trained exposure assessor and epidemiologist with over 13 years of experience and a chartered statistician. My research activities focus primarily on the assessment of human exposure to dangerous substances including bio-aerosols, pesticides, inorganic dusts, noise, psychosocial factors, nanomaterials, physical exposures and other chemical agents both in support of regulatory and epidemiological research. I have substantial experience on the assessment of exposure to organic dusts and the related health risks particularly among agricultural working populations and a strong interest on the use of statistical modelling as a method for improving quantitative exposure and risk assessment. I have been involved in several national and international projects including consultancies and evaluations of interventions. Throughout my career, I have supervised and examined several students including post graduate ones and lectured in academic courses of different levels. I have also served in several administrative posts including in boards of university study programs and organizing committees of national and international conferences.

Senior ScientistInstitute Of Occupational Medicine (Iom) May 2017 - Jan 2021Edinburgh, United KingdomOptimizing methods for exposure assessment to pesticides for use in epidemiological studies. Involved in several exposure assessment projects for risk assessment and epidemiology of chemicals and pesticides. Analyzing trends of exposure and production to dangerous substances within the EU workforce. Assessing retrospective exposure to sub-concussive headings as part of an epidemiological study on risk for neurodegenerative disease among retired English football players. Continued involvement in epidemiological studies related to the health effects of organic dusts. -
Research ScientistInstitute Of Occupational Medicine (Iom) Jun 2015 - Apr 2017Edinburgh, United KingdomEvaluating the Tier 1 and Tier 2 models for chemical exposures used under REACH. Working on several EU funded projects related to the assessment of exposure to Engineered Nano-materials. Continuing involvement on research related to the development and optimisation of current available methods for exposure assessment of organic dusts in epidemiological studies. -
Postdoctoral ResearcherAarhus University Dec 2011 - Jun 2015Aarhus, DenmarkWorking in the CODUST (www.codust.com) register-based study which aims to assess the effect of organic dust exposure on the development and prognosis of asthma and COPD among farmers and wood workers. Activities included the establishment of quantitative Job-exposure matrices based on Danish measurement data. Exposure databases using worldwide actual and aggregated measurement data were also established with the aim to model historical exposure patterns in greater detail. Currently the study is partly on the analysis with health data phase, with efforts to provide more detailed exposure assessment intensifying. -
Research AssistantAarhus University (Denmark) Jul 2011 - Nov 2011Aarhus, DenmarkWorking with the exposure assessment part of the SUS cohort study. Main focus on the establishment of empirical statistical models for organic dust and endotoxin exposure among cattle farmers. -
Phd FellowUniversity Of Aarhus Dec 2007 - Jun 2011Aarhus, DenmarkResponsible for the design, establishment, performance and interpretation of the results of an exposure assessment study on farmers exposure to organic dust and endotoxin. The project, nested within the 15th year follow-up of the SUS cohort study, aimed to the improvement of exposure assessment for bioaerosol exposure among farmers with the application of statistical modeling practices. Empirical statistical models for organic dust and endotoxin exposure among pig farmers were established and analysis for the respiratory health efffects of endotoxin was performed. Dissertation title '‘Dust and endotoxin exposure in animal farming populations - Formulating the basis for a model-based exposure assessment approach'. -
Research AssociateIras, Utrecht University Nov 2007 - Jan 2008Utrecht Area, NetherlandsWorked primarily with the establishment of the Industrial cohort part of the GABRIEL consortium.
