Madagascar

• As co- manager of a marine research base in Nosy Be, Madagascar, I was responsible for the day to day workings of the camp.:
• Scheduling a complex and full day of research, lectures and practicals for up to 60 students
• Communicating to volunteers and staff
• Managing and adapting for any problems that arose due to illness, poor weather or troublesome students
• Leading dive groups in underwater practicals, covering basic data collection, fish, coral and invertebrate ID.
• Assisting on data collection for the science team on three projects: Stereo-Video Survey to quantify reef fish biomass, 3D modelling of reef complexity and visual survey of benthic cover.

• The Coalition aims to mainstream the use of natural capital in decisions making by bringing together actors operating in this space. I am involved in a number of projects, including:
• Horizon 2020 We Value Nature campaign, that aims to scale up natural capital across the EU.
• Natural Capital Protocol Ocean supplement drafting, where I gathered evidence to build a strong business case to value ocean capital.
• Designing a diagram to clarify the position of the organisation in relation to the vast number of initiatives that have been created to prepare for the Convention on Biological Diversity’s summit in 2020.

• Sense about Science is a non-profit that strives to make sound evidence central in public debate. My main role was to organise the opening event of Evidence Week in Parliament, where 30 representatives of community.
• Found, contacted and convinced community group representatives to speak in Parliament
• Worked with speakers to write, edit and prepare their speech
• Coordinated with the events team at the Houses of Parliament and Sense about Science
• Worked to a tight deadline of 6 weeks to organise the event
• Spoke to MPs and researchers during Evidence Week to convince them of our aims

• The Pioneer projects were set up to aid in the delivery of UK government’s 25 Year Environment Plan. In this role, I worked on:
• A citizen science protocol to measure the quality of saltmarshes and information sheets explaining projects to locals
• Assisted in the organisation of a conference for the Pioneers nationwide
• Gained a deeper understanding of complexities of working with different stakeholders
• Collaborated with the other Pioneers and partner organisations

• CDC group is the Department for International Development’s acting investment fund. As an intern with the ESG team, I worked on due diligence on a number of deals as well as prepared preliminary reports for the.
• Calculated carbon footprint of the equity portfolio
• Investigated good practice of an abattoir in Kenya and gave a presentation to the team including my recommendations
• Created a traffic light framework to grade how well each investment fulfilled the Paris Agreement, and did this for existing equity
