As a guide, I was responsible for speaking to the customers about the local area, the wildlife (seals, Atlantic salmon, porpoise etc.), and marine industries including aquaculture and fisheries. In addition to wildlife tours, we also ran fishing trips for mackerel as well as catch and release fishing for skate and other small sharks. My role on these trips was to set up all the fishing gear, teach the customers how to fish, and to assist with the catches. General cleaning and maintenance of the vessel and gear were also required.

As a dinghy instructor, I was responsible for the planning and running of RYA sailing courses for people of all ages (5-65+) and abilities. Throughout all sessions, I was responsible for providing first aid and safety cover as well as allocating roles to assistant instructors. A particular highlight for me was teaching the disability club as well as one on one sessions with people with additional support needs. General maintenance and the upkeep of dinghies and powerboats were also involved in the job.
