Iona Ritchie is a singer, multi-instrumentalist and composer from Dunmore East, Co. Waterford.Iona is currently studying a BA Arts-Music degree in UCC and is a Quercus Creative & Performing Arts Scholar. She has received many accolades during her time in UCC, including An Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann Scholarship (2022), a scholarship to the Inishowen Singers Weekend (2023), and is one of a small co-hort to receive two Dónal “Doc” Gleeson Award in a row (2023 & 2024). Iona is currently Chairperson of UCC TradSoc and won a Bene Merenti for her contribution to UCC Societies. As a musician, Iona has achieved two diplomas (DipLCM) in Irish Music Performance on both Fiddle and Button Accordion from the London College of Music, where she also received a 98% in her Grade 8 in Melodeon. Iona is also a music teacher and recently completed her T.T.C.T examination with Comhaltas. She has represented her branch, CCÉ Cathair Phort Láirge, and is a county, provincial and All Ireland prize-winner in music and traditional singing competitions. In 2021, she was a runner up at Fleadhfest in the Traditional English Singing category.
