I have been a resident of District 12 for over 25 years and it is my honour to represent District 12 as your Councillor.There have been a few bumps in the road over the past four years but I try to do my very best. One of my main focuses is transportation, for our physical challenged, youth, children and seniors I have been able to obtain many crosswalks,crossing guards, speed bumps and traffic lights in the district. I continue to work on some other dangerous sights as well. I am also passionate bout the health care in Nova Scotia. There is no reason that a person should have to arrive at a walk in clinic at 6:30 to make sure they are seen by a doctor that day. I will continue to advocate or with the Province. What happens to people that can't stand for hours at a time like our seniors, mothers and those trying to see a doctor before they go to work?Also what about the lack of schools for our growing population. The Proving has looked a few sights in the district but have not made a decision. I am also concerned about the plight of our homeless population and those sleeping rough. Let's not forget that some of these residents that are homeless, are couch-surfing are also. They might not be included in the numbers. HRM continues to work with the Province to find a permanent solution. There needs to be more diversity in all levels of government and senior management positions. I am proud to be the first black woman in Halifax Council. This also the first time there has been gender parity in Council, Eight female Councillors and Eight male Councillors. LET'S WORK TOGETHER!
