Investigation and enhancement of client's multispectral fluorescent in-situ hybridization (MFISH) analysis software.

I'm currently on study leave , taking and MSc in Systems and Synthetic Biology at Edinburgh University (see Education). I'm still working ~30% at Canon.I have a leading role in the research and development of machine learning ("AI") based solutions to medical imaging and healthcare informatics problems. I have worked with deep learning CNNs applied to acute stroke signs and other abnormalities in CT. Past interests have included image registration, atlas-based segmentation, anatomical landmark detection and vessel tracking. Supervising doctoral students is particularly rewarding; they think and work fast, just need pointing in the right direction. I enjoy working in Python which has become the language of choice for machine learning.As of September 2019 I am deepening a long held interest in genomics and bioinformatics , taking an MSc in Systems and Synthetic Biology at the University of Edinburgh. I'm maintaining a part time commitment to Canon Medical while studying; I'm most grateful to Canon for allowing me the flexibility.

I established an image analysis capability and built an R&D team, developing tools for Voxar3D and other products - in particular for interactive segmentation, vessel analysis and bone removal in CTA.

Image analysis for automated karyotyping, multispectral fluorescent in-situ hybridization (FISH) and comparative genomic hybridization (CGH). Some of the images we worked with were quite beautiful!
