I first started volunteering my after hours at Sage Memorial Hospital at the Philanthropy Department as an data entry clerk. I've learned how the hospital brought in additional funds to fund different capital projects that the hospital dearly needed. As a main point I processed incoming donations. The program was fairly new in regards to the being it's own department. I took on many rolls and had many different department coordinators however my roles consisted of managing the department fiscal budget as will as submit monthly reports to our grant holder, which was the Robert Woods Johnson Foundation of Northern Arizona University. Funding was spreed out for special events for the surrounding communities and other events. I later was promoted to the Board of Directors Administrative Assistant. During this position my role was to insure that all 8 board members were up to date with all current policies and meeting times. I help assisted with managing key board members to attend Tribal negotiation meetings that where crucial to the hospital financial future. Behavioral Health was when I volunteered myself into a 90 day program with Amity Foundation in Tucson, Arizona. My main goals was to seek therapy to assist me in overcoming my childhood memories and alcohol abuse. My first position was hosting an all males therapy group of 10 men. The focus was to help men speak on personal matters in their life while showing them that their was an alternative to living a better live. I used a lot of my personal stories to build rapport with these men. Many of which gain self-control of their emotions, begin to love and accept themselves to a point to where they started working on rebuilding relationships with their families or themselves. I later moved on from Amity Foundation and obtained a job with LaFrontera as a Recovery Technician. My role was to provided assists to men and women through their recovery in the facility. I started to teach a Health Relationship class - my main focus was on self discovery and later branch out to building relationships with others. I took on a case load of 5 men and provided additional counseling and worked talking about their lives and hope better improve it with out the use of substances and alcohol. I learned a lot from this job, it exposed me to many different kinds of people and as a recovered person of addiction it better help me provide a service of understanding to help them through their life.
