Architect and an urban designer.Co-founder and consultant to Bauman Lyons Architects.Director of MassBespoke Ltd - R&D and fabrication company 2015-2024).Director of Leeds Love It Share IT (LLISI) Community Interest Company (CIC) (2008-2022).I am an Architect and Urbanist practicing from Leeds. I co-founded Bauman Lyons Architects and a start-up fabrication company MassBespoke. Between 2012-2017 I was a Professor of Sustainable Urbanism at Sheffield University School of Architecture. I also held Royal Commission 1851 Fellowship 2018-2019 developing business models for Built InCommon- neighbourhood-based house fabrication workshops. Currently working in a community led team developing Leeds Community Research Network funded by UKRI programme.As an Urban Design practitioner, I was a lead consultant on climate change responsive urban regeneration projects, masterplans, development strategies for Market Towns and neighbourhoods. She is experienced in a range of engagement strategies and a keen collaborator. I have acted as the PI on two UKRI (TSB) funded research projects investigating Climate Change Adaptation Strategies for existing commercial buildings. Bauman Lyons Architects are a bespoke architectural practice committed to working within 2 hours of travel from the office with clients who are passionate about making a positive contribution to socially and environmentally sustainable places. We are committed to practice based research and have developed expertise in supporting community projects, mitigation and climate change adaptation strategies, and are currently developing MassBespoke industrialised timber construction system. We have set up a new company MBLab to manufacture the system.Since 2013 the office has been working on a 5in4 week- 38 hours of work in 4 working days to help us tackle the overtime culture in the profession and to make time for personal development in recognition of the changing social context. Some of our work was exhibited at Roca Gallery, London April- June 2015.

Since 2013 we have been developing a parametrically enables cassette construction system designed for distributed, digital fabrication and for excellent environmental performance and customization at affordable prices. This research has been supported by a number of Innovate Uk research grants. In 2017 we will erect the first dwelling in MassBespoke. We have brought together BLA and Architectural Workshop to form MBLab to fabricate the prototype,prepare for future commissions and to continue improving the product.

I hold a 0.4 FTE post as Chair of Sustainable Urbanism at the School of Architecture. Currently I am working on MassBespoke research; academic paper titled 'The Reluctant Supply Chain' exploring the exploitative and conflictual culture of the construction industry; a book 'Retrofitting Neighborhoods- Designing for Resilience' commissioned by RIBA Publishing.I am also leading an MArch Studio: Designing with Knowledge' exploring the impact of he current drivers of change on design of neighborhoods in 2045.
