Experienced Language Instructor with a Master's degree in Education and a demonstrated history of working successfully in the higher education industry. Skilled in English as a Second Language (ESL) & Spanish instruction, Distance Learning, CANVAS learning platform, Microsoft Word, Excel & PowerPoint, and Customer Service. Professional Certification in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) from University of California, San Diego (UCSD). My passion has been teaching ESL and Spanish over many years in the U.S. and Mexico. I love meeting people from different walks of life and learning about their country and culture. I have always been interested in teaching languages, so I studied TESOL certification at UCSD. I earned my Master's degree in Education - Advanced Studies through the American College of Education. When I finished my studies at UCSD, I started teaching ESL and Spanish in Mexico in private industries as well as at universities and accounting firms. I worked for Harman Audio, Packard Hughes, Verbatim, KPMG, Ernst and Young, CETYS University and the Tijuana Cultural Center - CECUT.After many years working in Mexico, I moved to the U.S. and began teaching Spanish at UCSD - Extension. I had the wonderful opportunity to teach ESL for the San Diego Community College District (SDCCD). It has been an amazing experience working with a diverse student population. Also, it has been very enriching to work at an educational institution where teacher training is promoted and professional growth is important. At the SDCCD, I taught various ESL Levels throughout my career, as well as Spanish for intermediate and beginner levels. Throughout the years, I have also taught Vocational English as a Second Language (VESL) and ESL for Nurse Assistants. Later, I developed a Spanish for Nurses course and taught it for many semesters. As a freelance teacher, I worked with BAE Systems and NASSCO. I developed English, Spanish and Math classes and taught at their work sites for four years.In 1999, I won the Teacher of the Year award at CETYS University in Mexico. In 2008, I won the Making a Difference in the Community Award for teaching Immigrants' Rights at the SDCCD Cesar Chavez Campus. In 2009, I won the Bronze Award at BAE Systems for teaching English as a Second Language for communication and safety at the workplace. In 2020, I transitioned from face-to-face classes to online classes. Currently, I continue to work with the SDCCD.
