Senior executive at BMW Group with 20 years in different international roles (automotive/ financial services) with a prior career in banking (KfW) and aerospace (Rolls-Royce plc) . During this exciting journey I have built up a solid experience in • 𝐅𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 & 𝐓𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐲 responsibility in the project team setting up the BMW JV in China. Negotiations with Chinese partner, authorities and Chinese banks in Shanghai and Beijing. Following the approval, contract signature and transfer of equity into the newly established entity I stepped out. In my current role as CFO for Financial Services South Africa am responsible for funding the BMW Group business in the country.• 𝐑𝐢𝐬𝐤 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 - The financial crisis 2008 taught us all the importance of sound risk management. At BMW we used the crisis as an opportunity to expand the risk reporting, introduce risk evaluations into car development projects (starting with famous I3) and to develop a value at risk methodology for commodity risk and hedging strategy. While in the banking world my focus was on assessing the credit risk of airlines, now in the financial services world the correct assessment of credit and residual value risks determines the bottom line.• 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞/𝐀𝐮𝐝𝐢𝐭 – As the CFO and compliance officer in the importer region covering 53 markets from Africa, Middle East to Eastern Europe the focus was on working with the right partners to ensure compliance in those markets with (inter-)national laws as well as the BMW Group values, while aiming for business growth. Now based in an entity regulated by the South African financial services regulator FSCA I work within a changing legal environment, which requires the business to constantly adept especially in the area of consumer protection.• 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠/𝐀𝐜𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 – Earning money, identifying business opportunities and having a management reporting which allows you grow the business in a sound way. Dedicated teams, IT and up to date information are the keys to success.The red line through my career is in building the business up in an team effort and making it stronger.
