As an interpreter I provide an oral translation between people who speak different languages (Spanish - English) during Immigration interviews. Asylum seekers are individuals or families who suffered persecution or fear that they will suffer persecution in their home countries due to Race, Religion, Sexual Orientation, Membership in a particular social group or Political opinion. During the weeks leading up to the interview I meet with asylum seekers and through the use of a range of communication skills, such as targeted restatements, listening, questioning, clarifying and mock interviews, I help clients focus and be prepared for the official interview.

My responsibilities included securing sponsorship, corporate relationships, coordinating venues and marketing efforts, volunteer coordination, printing of materials, guest coordination (travel and lodging), scheduling of films, securing rights for the selected films, among other things.

I was also in charge of producing video content for all of the events taking place inside and outside of the Consulate, and created a series of DVD’s for Venezuela’s yearly cultural report.

In this capacity, I worked closely with the film’s director and editor carrying out tasks ranging from checking and loading footage, organizing paper work, fundraising and lending support in all areas needed

I worked as Audiovisual Coordinator in the Festival Iberoamericano de Cortometrajes de Caracas VIART from 2005 until 2008. In this capacity, I worked closely with the director of the Festival, carrying out tasks ranging from coordinating with venues, organizing and creating DVD’s for the weekly shows all year long, doing video and sound check in all venues during the Festival, and lending support in all areas needed.

My responsibilities in this position included management of all the submitted films for 3 international Film Festivals (Documentaries, Feature and Short films), programming the nominated films in multiple venues, contacting the directors of other film festivals in order to schedule shows during the year, working with graphic designers to create the image, the promos for TV, print advertising and the creation of the catalogs. Other responsibilities included booking flights, hotel rooms, meals, transportation and all other necessary arrangements for the guests of the film festivals (special speakers, jury members, etc.) I was also in charge of producing video content of all of the events taking place during the film festivals and the premieres of all Venezuelan films 2006-2008, and created a series of DVD’s for the yearly report.
