About Iresha Jayasinghe

I am a passionate scientist, researcher and educator bridging conservation biology, environmental education and environmental social science to comprehend connections between individuals’ relationships with nature, their emotions experienced when evaluating evidence, and their evaluation of scientific arguments. I am particularly interested in understanding the social and psychological factors influencing human actions toward nature. I am also involved in science outreach and advocacy to foster the success of minority student groups in STEM fields. I also act as a student advocate for full representation by women and people of color, with the hope of increasing student retention in STEM fields and alleviating the under-representation that is currently undermining STEM fields’ ability to solve societal problems.
