Binnen Arbo Unie voeren we wetenschappelijk onderzoek uit binnen het domein Werk & Gezondheid, in samenwerking met verschillende Nederlandse universiteiten. Mijn rol is samen met onze groep onderzoekers projecten te initiëren die vraagstukken vanuit de praktijk (o.a. werkgevers) en wetenschap samenbrengen en tot toepasbare kennis te komen.

Ik draag bij aan het vernieuwen en verbeteren van de dienstverlening van Arbo Unie door de nieuwste wetenschappelijke inzichten op het gebied van de bedrijfsgezondheidszorg te integreren en de evidence base voor bestaande dienstverlening verder uit te bouwen. Dit doe ik door het coördineren van onderzoek dat uitgevoerd wordt binnen de Academische Werkplaats van Arbo Unie in samenwerking met verschillende Nederlandse universiteiten. Daarnaast initieer, onderneem en begeleid ik zelf onderzoek binnen Arbo Unie binnen thema werk en mentale gezondheid.

Nederland

I investigate the working lives of young adults from a life course perspective, using quantitative and qualitative research methods. In this, my focus lies on the relationship between work and mental health and the importance of having meaningful work. The aim of my research is to inform policy and practice and to generate interventions stimulating mentally healthy working lives.

Paris

I worked as a consultant policy analyst for the Directorate for Employment, Labour and Social Affairs. My main activities were to analyse the policy challenges for OECD countries in supporting the labour market participation of people with mental health problems and provide recommendations for policy improvements.

Tilburg Area, Netherlands

My core activities consisted of: (1) connecting the available expertise on Work & Health within Tilburg University by collaborating with researchers from other departments; (2) acquiring subsidies for research on the topic of Work & Health; (3) supervising master students and PhD students; (4) exchanging knowledge, networking and collaborating with people from practice and research groups outside the university (national and international) interested in the topic of Work & Health.

Main activities:Contribute to a collaborative research project, with 5 universities involved, on developing a measurement instrument to assess sustainable employability.

Topic of PhD thesis: "Preventing recurrent sickness absence in workers with common mental disorders" Main activities:Searching and synthesising literature, conducting focus groups and interviews, developing an intervention, writing an intervention guide, developing a research design, writing a research proposal for the Medical Ethical Board, training care providers (occupational physicians) in the intervention, organising feedback moments with care providers, collecting data, supervising a research assistant, analysing data, writing articles, presenting findings at international conferencens, reviewing articles for international, scientific journals.
